Harman Kardon Allure : Hands On Review

After getting the best response from the Amazon Alexa in Echo series, Amazon has handed over the reins to its voice-controlled helper to third parties now. The new Harman Kardon Allure has been launched in the market now.

Now let us see the feature of this Harman Kardon Allure...

Design

This Harman Kardon Aluure has an eye-catching design, which looks good when the music is played. The bottom half of the speaker is made of metallic in shape, so as to get the best sound from the speaker. The upper half has a transparent plastic case so you can see the magic of LED lights when the music is been played.

The Allure is heave at 2.6kg, but that is not really an issue because you cannot carry such a speaker every time which is sensitive at the top. There is also a sensitive touch for volume control and also Alexa assistant button at the top center. There is also a mute the microphone button at the bottom of the speaker.

Performance

The volume of Allure is been controlled by the three range speakers, 1.5-inch drivers firing outwards, along with a 3.5-inch subwoofer that fires downwards. The subwoofer in the Allure fires directly at the surface below, which pushes it outwards, and that is why bass sounds so good.

The Allure has a rated frequency of 40Hz to 20,000Hz and uses the Bluetooth 4.2 versions. It also has a WiFi for connecting Alexa to the internet. Setting up this Speaker is not easy, you have to connect to the HK Alexa app, which will directly be connected to your speaker. After using for some time I realized that the sound quality of this Speaker is much better than other smart-speakers like Google Home, Amazon Echo Plus, etc.

Verdict

Harman Kardon has certainly chosen an apt name for its speaker. The overall design with the transparent top and soft pulsating lights makes it very alluring indeed. Build quality is superb, and it would look just as good on a desk as in your bedroom. The battery backup of the speaker can last up to 6hrs of playing at 70% of volume. But sometimes touch sensitivity of the speaker makes a problem in that and sometimes Alexa can not able to listen because of interruption.

Google Home Mini : Hands On Review

Amazon now has their Echo Dot at their third generation, but Google remains unchanged with Google Home Mini.

The updates have been coming off this Home Mini in every month. The updates of Google Assistant is making the Google Home Mini better speaker at this price range. Mini is a pocket-sized Bluetooth speaker which have voice assistant too.

Design

If we look at the design of this Google Home Mini, we saw that the speaker looks very catchy and there are curved edges with the excellent fabric work on the top which makes the speaker easy to handle.

The LED lights under the fabric can easily be seen. There is a special button for the Google Assistant and also the speaker can charge with the Micro-USB cable. The physical control of this Home Mini is volume and the Google Assistant buttons.

Performance

The Google Home Mini is the most affordable voice assistant enabled speaker and the voice recognition is better than the phones. The speaker can recognize more than 6 people at a single time.

You can also place a call free in the US with this Home Mini. You can manage many apps without using your phones like Spotify, Youtube Music, Youtube app, iHeartRadio, etc. The speaker is called to be the best mini speaker with a comparison of all the speaker making companies.

From the Google Home app, the speaker can do a lot more things like it can connect to your SmartTv if there is built in Google Chromecast, the speaker can connect to any smart things like smart light, smart fan, and much more.

Sound Quality

The sound quality of Google Home Mini is not excellent but at this price range, it is better than Amazon Echo Dot and JBL pocket speaker.

As Google Home Mini is a 360-degree speaker, the bass quality is surprisingly good. But after usage of this Home Mini for sometimes, you came to know that the sound quality is becoming low.

There is also a 3.5mm headphone jack which is used when you don't want to on your Bluetooth or when the battery of your phone is low.

Verdict

The Home Mini is similar to the Amazon Echo Dot in that it is Google attempt at getting the Assistant into as many homes as possible. At that, the sheer amount of capabilities that the Google Home brings in addition to its chic, premium build and the low price make it an instant star.

If you are in the market for a cheap speaker, the Google Home Mini will be the best option which has Google Assistant too.
